Interpreters Matter:
Best Practices to Care for Their Wellness

In the interest of understanding the scope of accountability for, by, with, and about language interpreter matters, we present an event that will offer an experience and momentum to remember. Medical and Legal interpreter stakeholders, routinely expect a lot, aspire for reliable and excellent service outcomes, yet they barely see or acknowledge the human factors that make possible that service.

By offering to host this conference, we dare to ramp up the conversation, inspire dialogue, and invite interpreters to find their own voice, for they otherwise become and perform as the voice and mouth for their clients, always. Their task has no room for error, accuracy is the mandate, and so much rides on their getting it right for the first time, always.

The world has approximately 6900 languages and 7 billion humans. Migration, relocation, multi-location, and the Internet, have accelerated the pace of global village and community. How fast can the vast task of medical, legal, community, and behavioral health care be prepared to deliver culturally and linguistically sensitive services?

In pondering these duties, we seek to honor and recognize the unique contributions of human interpreters. We have a huge bowl of the spaghetti tangle to unravel, as we share much about interpreter matters.

CEU credits – IMIA pending and CCHI pending – 6 instructional hours
