May 8th - The ABCs of Childhood Psychiatric Disorders

Much attention has been given to mental health disorders commonly diagnosed during childhood (e.g., ADHD, Autistic Disorder, Mental Retardation, etc.). This workshop will identify and explain the symptoms of common disorders diagnosed during childhood. Controversial debates related to diagnosis and treatment will be addressed. Treatment options will be explained. Prognosis for future development and functioning will also be explored.

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will gain exposure to symptoms of common childhood psychiatric disorders.
• Participants will increase knowledge about treatment options for childhood psychiatric disorders.
• Participants will explore information on both sides of controversial debates related to the diagnosis and treatment of childhood psychiatric disorders.
