Translating Contracts to and from French

  • 09/18/2013
  • 11:00 AM
  • Webinar (11:00 AM central time)
Presenter: Thomas L. West, III
Date: September 18
Time: 12 Noon U.S. Eastern Daylight Time
Duration: 60 minutes
CE Point(s): 1

When it comes to translating contracts, what appears to
be easy at first glance often turns out to be much more
complicated. "Contrat" means a "contract" undefined except when
it means "agreement" in English. And a "conclusion" is the
end, right? Not if you're in France!

Attend this webinar to learn:

*  Where contracts fit in the common law and civil law systems
*  False friends in translating contracts from and into French
*  How to translate common phrases
*  What the dictionaries won't tell you about contract language
*  Where to learn more
